I'm Back

So I went on a vacation from my blog for awhile. I had so much to do with the end of the school year and summertime that I haven't had time for much else.

SO here is the latest happenings:

Allison is anxiously awaiting strating at OCHSA on August 24. She & Teresa visited both sets of grandparents for two weeks and had lots of fun.

Teresa has been enjoying the summer and tries to get me to take her swimming everyday.

Matthew is still addicted to Avatar the last airbender and loves to be out riding his bike or diggin in the dirt.

Alicia loves her barbies and digging in the dirt with Matthew.

I took the younger ones and we went to Utah with my sister Paula for 9 days. Busy time cleaning cooking and trying to help my parents. We had fun got a horrible sunburn and decided that there was a positive use for smog(Protection from the sun).

I am going through a very stressful time at work. Evidently I have recently gotten really good at getting myself into trouble. Nothing too serious but serious enough that I have to be very, very good for awhile. We will see if I am able to accomplish this monumental task. LOL

I was referred to a great site called Elance which will let me bid on jobs that I can do on the side. Pretty excited about that concept. We shall see if it turns out to be really good.

Basically though we are enjoying the summer and trying to not get to stressed out. Oh well I guess I will have to get a massage come September.

See ya @ the next post,

Personal Brand

So I am developing my personal brand. I am trying to decide what I am most passionate about. So far my top three are:

1. My Kids/being a mom
2. My Beliefs
3. ????

SO I am not sure which way to go. I need to pick one thing and go with it. So any ideas people may have can be useful.

My kids: I read a really great book this afternoon about being a great mom. Not about being a perfect mom but a great one. I learned some great tips for example that enjoying the journey is so important. I mean my kids say and do things all the time that I laugh at or find amusing. This book suggested writing those happenings into a notebook to share with the children when they are older. For example:

The other day my son Matt(5) and I were waiting at my other daughters school in the office for her. THere was a notice that had two stop signs on it. One had the word spelt in english and the other one had the word spelt in Spanish. matt was quite distressed that they had spelt Stop wrong. He patiently showed me which letters were correct and proudly told me which letter they were missing or had wrong. I just smiled as I explained the difference of language to him. He still didn't really get it but I was aboe to see the world through his eyes. I love it because sometimes he just hugs me and says.."Thanks mom, I love you."

I will write about my other passion tomorrow and then maybe we can have a vote.

Hey there

So I know it has been a month since I posted last and so much has happened.
I have found my self going in different directions than I had planned on some working out others not so much. I applied for a lead position at TSA so maybe I will get that we shall see.

I fell a week ago and had to face the reality that I am getting older and do not recover quite so quickly. Luckily nothing too serious..scrapes and bruised knees. I just have to be more careful.

The kids are doing great but on Wednesday night they all decided to get the stomach flu at the same time. That was so horrible. One sick is bad but all four was crazy.

The school year is winding down and yet Teresa figured out a way to get a D- on her report card in social studies because she didn't do any work. Of course I went crazy because the teacher didn't tell me that Teresa was not turning in her work. I have a conference this afternoon. Hopefully the teacher has a good explanation for how this happened(besides Teresa's laziness).

Matt has moved forward but will be ina special day 1st grade because he cannot handle a regular class without an aide. hopefully we can eventually get there but for now we just want him to be happy and successful.

Alicia loves her preschool. She goes three morning a week and has a great time socializing with other children her age.

Allison is looking forward to OCHSA and I think that is all that gets her through each day at the school she goes to know. I like to refer to it as a prison but...that is a story for another day.

My life I feel is like a rollercoaster. I wish it was a tame one but alas it is a wild ride most days. Maybe someday it will settle down.

That's all for now I will post more frequently, now that I am not in training anymore and just back to being an awesome mom.

Change is in the air

Well the letter came and Allison got into Orange County High School of the Arts - production & design conservatory. We are so happy for her. It is a great school and she will grow so much. There is a certain amount of fundraising we must do so if you want to help then just send me an email.

The other kids are all plugging along and growing and changing. I am in a growth process myself. I am excited to work with buisnesses to grow them.

I have been thinking lately that I like helping people. I like doing things for others but I also need to do things for me. So I am on the hunt to find things to improve me. I am going to be joining Shauna on the 30 challenge with Visalus. I also have recommitted to working out and putting my health first. I am important also.

If you are on LinkedIn, please look for me and connect with me. I am always looking for great professional contacts.

All for now,

April already

I cannot believe that it is April already. My oldest child becomes a teenager. I cannot believe it. The time has flown by. I mean it seems like yesterday that she was so little. I guess it means that I am getting older....oh no!!!

The other children are all enjoying spring break but I cannot say the same for me.
The play was great and the costumes looked fabulous. My sister came the other day and helped me clean the house. I will be singing her praises forever. This was of course after our fun visit to the San Luis Rey de Francia mission. Such a beautiful place. It is located in Oceanside and is so serene. They actually use parts of it for retreats and still have regular worship services there. Also we learned that the movie Zorro was filmed there. Although I think the fourth grade mission project is lame sometimes we definitely had fun learning about the mission's history.

So I hae survived week one of Spring Break and am looking forward to a calmer 2nd week. The OCHSA letters come out starting this weekend. We are praying extra hard that Allison will get in.

I helped a friend of mine clean her house when she was moving and we had so much fun. I am so glad that I was able to be there for her. My question is why people tend not to help each other out anymore? I mean in older times you knew your neighbors and helped them rather than just complaining about them. Does anyone think it is possible to go back to that kind of a time?

So till next time keep on connecting.

Costumes..... helping others

Well the bug costumes are almost done....yippee.

In othe news Spring break starts this afternoon :( I might need a trip to the Day spa at the end of the next two weeks.

I have been thinking recently about the decline of people willing to help others out. I mean I would help anyone if I possibly can but the people aI have observed are not that way. Such a sad state of affairs.

Oh well my ranting for today is done I guess I better go pick up allison from school since the other three are already flooding my front yard.

Catch ya later,
Rebecca

Can you believe it?

Last night I put the twitter widget on my blog page. I was so excited. Yeah I know you probably don't think it is a big deal but it was so much fun!!!! I also put a Networked Blogs widget on but I didn't really like it so I took it off.

In family news: We had steaks for dinner last night that were so good. I BBQ them. So tasty we had so friends over for dinner and played some rockband afterward. Our Rockband 2 disc isn't working anymore so if anyone has suggestions to try to get it to work I am open to listening. A few minor scratches(not bad though). We cleaned the disc and the wii but no luck. :(

Spring Break starts next week and I am so scared to be home all day with all the kiddos. I may just hide in my bdroom with the door locked...lol.

Thats it for now. Have a great day.

As time marches on

Hello world,

I am running like 300 miles per hour and yet enjoying every minute of it. I have been helping a friend of mine as she struggles through chemotherapy. Some things I have learned:

1. Annual Exams are so important for every family member not just the kids.

2. If you are around a person going through Chemo expect to have things repeated to you often.

3. They will tire out so much faster than you even though there is still work to do...Be patient.

4. Go with what you feel is best for your body cause Doctors are not always right.

Anyway I love my friend dearly and am so glad that I can be here for her. On to news of the kids.

Allison: No OCHSA news but 13 comes next month. I am so not ready. She gets so emotional but at the same time can see things that need to get done and helps out a little more willingly....at least when I ask her to.

Teresa: Anyone that thinks a 9 year old is fun is crazy. They don't do anything unless they are getting paid or getting an extra privledge.

Matthew: Currently is enjoying flooding the yard although it seems that he is alergic to the grass becuase he keeps breaking out when he floods the yard. I really need to seal off the hose so that he cannot turn the water on!!!

Alicia: Goes to preschool and I think we are both happy with the situation. We have time apart so I still remember those things about her that I love.

Breaking out into new arenas

In other news Alicia is 3 and goes to preschool three mornings a week. I just finished sewing thirteen catapillar costumes that are so awesome. The three lady bugs are next.

Allison is waiting to hear from OCHSA. Her auditions went well for Integrated Arts, Visual Arts, & Production and Design. We should hear by the end of the month if she is accepted.

Teresa is eagerly anticipating her field trip to the San juan mission. I am kinda glad because I get to go with her.

Matthew is working on his grammatical errors and learning social cues.

Life is good. We are overall pretty healthy and settled in our world.

The end of February.....

Well I have made it through the past two months. I am so excited because my birthday is coming and change is in the air. I have started a growth process that cannot be stopped. I have decided to make my scheule fit the gym so since there was no time to go during the day I decided to get up at 4am and go to the gym. I know it is very crazy and my mental health has been questioned by many since I decided to do this. Alas I have to work on my changes to being a better me.
I went and took care of my parents for a few days. No one understands how hard that is till you have to do it. All I know if that I want to be better prepared for retirement so that I can enjoy my later years of life. I want to be healthy & financially sound. Thankfully I still have some time to pull this together.HAHA
So much fun to have I am so glad to be alive.

Top 10 in 2010

2010 is going to be a great year I can tell. Even though a rocky january I am determined to make this year rock. So this is my top 10 things that I am gonna do or get this year.

1. Work out 5 times a week at 24 Hr Fitness. I am gonna be a smokin hot mama by the end of 2010. I lost lots of inches last year but this year I am gonna step it up and push even harder.

2. Get a new mattress for my bed. I am tired of sleeping in the Grand Canyon so it is definitely time to up grade. Suggestions are totally welcome?

3. Get out of Debt. A biggie but very possible through recent buisness ideas.

4. Get a house cleaner to come twice a month to deep clean the kitchen and bathrooms so that I don't have to anymore. I will be jumping for joy as soon as I make tis a reality and everyone in the southern Ca area will definitely know it.

5. Get a new computer for myself. I have always gotten the one that my husband discarded when he got a new one and I have decided it is time to get one for myself. Maybe a laptop. I'm not totally sure.

6. Go to Italy to visit my very dear friend Heather. Probably after the baby comes so I can welcome that sweet girl into the world. Maybe some shopping while I am there???? Maybe as a second honeymoon.....

7. Go on at least 10 dates with my husband. Quiet times just the two of us. In the past we have only gone to his work christmas party because who could afford the meal and a babysitter. We are gonna go to restrauants that do not have a drive thru so we can talk and just be together.

8. Get a new Fridge. Side by side. Ice and water in the door. Stainless Steel. My current one has a shelf that tips on the one side and ice crystals that take over the freezer. Can you say energy hoarde.

9. Finally put together my New York 3D puzzle. I bought this for myself a few years ago and have never had the time to put it together because I have been working myself to death. I am gonna make the time by working smarter not harder.

10. Lastly to make this year awesome I want to spend one on one time with each of my children. I have been taking my son on adventures as we call them but I want to extend this and each week take one of the kids on an adeventure on my night off. Since my kids are 12, 9, 5 & 2 the adventures will I'm sure be just as unique as they are. I want them to have great memories of times with me. Suggestions are welcome....
